The sea girl.
My name is Anna Marine. I was born in Moscow, but, because of my grandmother lives in Prague and I visit her since the childhood, I consider Europe as my Second home.Marine surname has got to me from my grandfather-Frenchman who has emigrated to Russia in 1949. Marine means sea and that was excellent coincidence because I love the sea more then ever. For me there is nothing more perfectly like sunset on the sea, I am ready to look at it every day. Also I like night (to work at night especially ), rains and autumn,сroissants and coffee in the mornings, reading,Futurama, travel, music, nature, photograph,gothic and drawing of course. Many people ask - if you love a gothic why you do not go in black clothes with the white face and frightening make-up. And I answer that I do not wish to expose things that live in my heart and that is close to me and important for me.The clothes and a make-up is secondary thing. The main thing is that you feel.
Heart choice
As many other artists, I draw since the childhood (I do not remember myself without pencils and brushes in hands), but as many of them I doubted that it will be my way.At school I seriously took a great interest in history, mythology psychology and astronomy, planning to be engaged with it, yet have not understood that hobbies come and leave, and drawing always with me. And then I has decided that I will not be engaged in anything besides that.
The way of darkness
How I have come to a gothic style (well I want to say that I think my style is dark romantism more,but whatever)? It was a long way...All that happens with us in the childhood in some measure defines our further life. Often be in Prague, I have been charmed by its architecture, its legends, history and most of all its cemeteries. Sad angels with wreaths on heads, ancient gravestones, faded flowers and silence. It was other world - frightening, dark, bewitching and inviting to itself.I liked to walk there and to read among silence. In all that was an inexplicable charm of that other side, which can seem strange to other people. Sitting there, I read the Irish and English legends about phantoms, drowned men, fairies, malicious wizards. Read French, German, English, Czech, Roumanian fairy tales (in a consequence I have started to collect them ).In that time, books were my best friends.They opened to me new world.The world which I saw with my eyes. And I transferred this vision to a paper.Elfs, mermaids, vampires, beautiful sad princesses - drawing it,I felt myself a part of this wonderful world, so different from everyday life. Till now reading and drawing for me - the most magic things on the Earth. And one often inspires on another. My favourite writers - Edgar Allan Poe, Anne Rice, Ray Bradbury, Oscar Wilde, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, J.Tolkien, Elizabeth Haydon and many others.The second thing inspiring me is music. I was 8 years old when I have heard for the first time an aria from "Phantom of the Opera" and I've been so amazed that I remember this moment till now. Since then a combination of the opera female vocal and rock music became my favorite.Stream of passion, Within Temptation, Kidneythieves, Nightwish, Amethystium, Blackmore's night, Evanescence - here those few groups that give me a power. Almost always I draw with listening the music.Certainly I should say about artists inspiring me: Julie Bell, Boris Valedjo, Luis Royo and Arantza Sestajo. All they great and they all my best teachers.
Technique
The most preferable materials in drawing for me is a water colour and pencils. Pencils can be different - pastel, water colour, usual. All is used. Besides, sometimes I use acryle and gouache. Well and of course graphic pencils for drawing sketches. I always carry with me a small album for sketches where I sketch interesting things which I see - trees, flowers, butterflies, people, buildings. It is very useful for practice and moreover, it give you a lot of ideas for pictures. Therefore I advise it to all beginning artists.
The present time.
Probably nobody have knew my works till now, if 2 years ago my friend has not suggested to upload it in the Internet. It were my old works and I didn't like them, but other people liked them.It was a surprise for me. And I have decided that I will share them again and again.So I've made my page on Deviantart, and then on MySpace and Facebook.For these 2 years there was so many wonderful comments, questions and offers that I really felt myself necessary. I has felt that I do good work and maybe I do the world a little more colourfully and more interestingly. Now I co-operate with wonderful company CILM,in USA. They sell my drawings for digital use, I work over the book with amazing author from Spain. In Russia I co-operate with large publishing house AST and books with my covers you may find in every bookshop in Russia and soon there will be calendars and puzzles. Well and certainly I draw commissions.Ahead still is a lot of all - new photosessions, my site, my own book (I hope I will finish it this year).So - in infinity and further!
